Since 1972 Vasco’s has served some of Cape Town’s finest Portuguese cuisine, and litres of Castle’s finest tank beer to go with it.
It is said to be the third oldest pub in Cape Town, and it has stuck to its roots while Green Point grew trendy around it. Locals and newcomers alike still call it the Portuguese Embassy, and everyone is welcome.

Big screens are placed all around Vasco’s, the courtyard included, so you need never miss a moment of the big game. We are walking distance to the stadium, so it is the place to gather on the way to the big events. Trading hours may be extended in the case of major sporting events.

Vascos is an establishment in the city. As one of the few remaining classic pub / sports bars left in central Cape Town, it never disappoints when it comes to their authentic Portuguese cuisine. It's also one of the favourite spots to watch any live sporting event and always has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere to get social or just catching up with old friends.

The "Portuguese Embassy" is a Cape Town legend. I haven't been there in quite a number of years, but after a quick lunchtime visit last week, I'm happy to report that the atmosphere and food is still awesome!
Functions at Vasco’s
Hire part of the pub or the whole place. The Vatican and the Shipwreck room each take 60 to 80 people downstairs, and 40 seated or 80 dancing upstairs. Use Vasco’s food and drink exclusively and the venue hire fee is waived.
